Platinum jewellery is set to become increasingly popular in India as the growing trend for light jewellery makes the precious metal more affordable.
The traditional chunky items of jewellery are becoming less popular and in their place, more delicate, lighter items are increasing in demand, meaning that platinum jewellery is now far more affordable for many Indians.
“Since most women are working these days, their preference is tilting towards jewellery which can be worn regularly with both Western and Indian outfits,” Gold Souk director GS Pillai told the Economic Times.
As the trend continues to gather pace in India, more big jewellers are now choosing to stock a greater variety of light jewellery.
Demand for platinum jewellery has been gathering pace in India in recent times and this latest development is likely to mean the demand for platinum from jewellers will continue to grow as more people find themselves able to afford fashionable items made from the precious metal.
