Amazon.com has thrown down the gauntlet in holiday price wars, offering nearly 50 percent off on some jewelry and watches bearing six-figure price tags.

Among the offerings is an 18-karat white gold and diamond Audemars Piguet watch, valued at $1 million and selling for $499,000. The watch features 53 carats of diamonds.
