Fresh off a much lauded runway collection during New York Fashion Week, Mark Badgley and James Mischka made an appearance at Lord and Taylor Wednesday night to launch their spring 2007 platinum evening collection. The dashing duo - who have been together professionally and personally for nearly 20 years - greeted the crowd of ladies eager to meet the pair responsible for dressing Carrie Underwood at this year’s Grammy’s, and a pregnant Jaime Pressly at the SAG awards.
Known for their red carpet-ready gowns and glamorous frocks, Badgley Mischka has taken a decidedly more casual turn for their spring looks. Floor-length dresses are still evident for the spring, but fabrics are lighter and cuts slimmer than previous collections. One breezy look awash in jeweled blues and silver evoked a Grecian escapade, and another lavender number - complete with fabric fringed at the neckline - was a big step away from the designers’ precise hems and cuts.
