While the established designers had a break from the ramp and went back to their drawing boards for the upcoming season, young designers staged a mini-takeover of the ramp and the results have been astounding. In fact for the past month or so, Johannesburg fashion scene had been playing host to a number of events specifically dedicated to unearthing new fashion talent.

Even with limited resources, these up-and-coming designers, from various technikons, universities and design schools, made it their business to enter as many competitions as possible to make their mark in a fast-growing, yet unforgiving industry.
