How many times have you received a last-minute invitation for the hottest holiday party in town? My guess is one too many. You’ve probably stood in front of your closet for an hour, hemming and hawing that you have absolutely nothing to wear. OK, we all know that you do indeed have plenty of clothes. But at that point in time, nothing seems appropriate. You want to dress to impress and last year’s Cashmere sweater just isn’t going to make the cut.

A rose is a rose, and a perfume is a perfume, right? Well, not if it’s the “World’s Most Expensive Perfume.” Clive Christian No. 1 was awarded the Guinness World Record for being the most expensive perfume on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.

A popular ingredient used in lip gloss to add shine, butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), may be cancer-causing according to reports from scientists at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. The scientists said that BBP “can interfere with the development of healthy breast tissue.” This happens because BBP builds up in fat cells in the breast with the result being an increased risk of breast cancer.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, who will be turning 70 on December 31 bemoans the rash of plastic surgery in Hollywood. The veteran actor talked about his feelings regarding the trend in a recent interview, “Well, what are you going to do? You see other actors having their faces done and you think, ‘Why? Don’t do all that stuff, you look ridiculous…It changes the structure of their faces.”
